Waymark Pricing & Plans FAQ
General Billing
Q: Do I need a subscription for the tag to work? A: The Individual hardware purchase includes lifetime access to the basic Waymark mobile app. However, advanced automation features—such as automatic E-ink updates via the Location Details API and itinerary syncing—require a Pro Traveler or Enterprise subscription.
Q: Can I pause my API subscription when I’m not traveling? A: Yes! The Pro Traveler plan is billed month-to-month. You can activate it for a month of heavy travel and downgrade to the Free "Manual" tier when you’re staying home. Your tag will still display the last information pushed to it.
Hardware & Shipping
Q: Is there a discount for family or group purchases? A: Absolutely. We offer a Travel Duo pack ($145) for couples and can provide custom quotes for families or teams requiring 5+ units. For quantities over 50, please contact our Enterprise Sales team for bulk pricing.
Q: What happens if I lose my tag? Do I have to pay for the subscription again? A: Your subscription is tied to your User Account, not the specific hardware. If you lose a tag, you can simply unpair it in the app and link a new Waymark tag to your existing plan.
Enterprise & Developer API
Q: How does the "Per Active Tag" fee work on the Enterprise plan? A: We only bill for tags that have logged at least one "Transit Event" (POST /api/locations) or "Display Update" during the billing cycle. If you have 1,000 tags in storage, you aren't charged for them until they are deployed in the field.
Q: Are there overage fees for the Developer (Sandbox) plan? A: No. To protect your budget, the Developer plan has a hard cap of 1,000 API calls. If you reach this limit, the API will return a 429 Rate Limit error until the next billing cycle. You can upgrade to a paid tier at any time to remove these limits.
Q: Does the Enterprise plan include hardware? A: Enterprise plans cover the Software & API infrastructure. Hardware is purchased separately at a tiered bulk discount, allowing you to scale your physical fleet independently of your data requirements.
Maintenance & Longevity
Q: Does the battery replacement cost extra? A: The Waymark tag is designed with a USB-C rechargeable battery that lasts up to a year. There are no proprietary batteries to buy or "subscription-locked" hardware components.
Q: Is the API data storage included in the price? A: Yes. The Pro plan includes 90 days of "Breadcrumb" history. The Enterprise plan includes a full year of verifiable transit logs for every tag in your fleet, which is essential for insurance claims and logistics auditing.
